My Nani was a dressmaker (and a boss!). She spent her life designing gowns to help women look beautiful on the most important days of their lives. The dresses she designed are not just threads, they are the fabric of core memories and self-esteem that women carried for a lifetime.
After Nani retired, she had thousands of beautiful gowns sitting in a warehouse. I convinced her to use them to do some good! The vision was simple: no matter the life circumstance of a young girl, she would not miss out on participating in the important life milestone of her prom. And for this special evening, she will not show up in a hand me down. She will wear a new dress that is hers alone. And that dress would make her look like a queen!

We started an initiative with Catholic Charities New York to provide new prom dresses to young girls in their community, who would otherwise not be able to attend their prom. The first program was a big success! The next year we expanded to two states. We worked on a program to provide dresses for unhoused high school girls in the Alief School District in my hometown Houston, TX. Over the past three years, we have helped more than 1000 girls get brand new dresses.

In late 2024, I met a buyer for an apparel store that explained to me how discount retailers like Ross and Marshalls buy palates of clothing for 10 cents on the dollar. I had the realization that if we could buy like these retailers do, we could do even more good! It was time to think bigger, and Good Threads the non-profit was born!
Our vision today is to utilize for profit innovation to maximize social impact. We will turn every $1 donated into $10 by purchasing efficiently, like a discount retailer. We will utilize cutting edge technology to match available product with the needs of leading non-profits that are already experts in getting help out into the community. We are young, but we will partner with best of breed companies and experts to pack an outsized punch.
